A Software Studio  ·  Long Timeline  ·  Now Online

Durable software,built with intent.

Altitude Labs is a software studio building products that respect the people who use them — in an industry optimized to do the opposite.

01Build for the user, not the metric.
02Local-first when possible. Private by default.
03Ship deliberately. Iterate carefully.
04Durable over trendy.
01Mission

We build durable, useful software in an industry optimized for the opposite — and we plan to be doing it for a long time.

One studio · A handful of products · Long timeline
02Products

Two products. Both built deliberately.

Each product the lab ships is a long-term bet on the same idea — that software made with care outlasts software optimized for engagement.

03Capabilities

What the studio is built to build.

Small surface area, deep stack. We do fewer things, but we do all the layers ourselves.

01
Full-stack product
End-to-end: data model, server, web client, native app. We ship the whole surface area, not a layer.
02
iOS, deeply native
Swift, SwiftUI, system frameworks. Software that feels like it belongs on the device.
03
AI systems
Practical model integration — retrieval, agents, evaluation — built to be useful, not to demo.
04
Automation & infrastructure
Pipelines, schedulers, observability. The unglamorous machinery that keeps products running for years.
05
Privacy-first architectures
Local-first data, E2E sync, minimal collection. Designed so there's nothing to leak.
06
Design systems
Type scales, motion, components. The texture that separates considered work from generic work.
04Research

Currently exploring.

Open questions the lab is investigating. Not products yet, not promises — areas of focus that shape what we choose to build next.

α
Active inquiry

Software that respects attention

Building tools that don't compete for engagement. What does a meal planner, a finance app, or a news reader look like when it's optimized for user outcomes instead of session time?

β
Active inquiry

Signal in the noise

Filtering AI-generated content, algorithmic outrage, and engagement-bait across news and social media. Exploring what a calmer, more balanced information layer could look like.

γ
Active inquiry

Local-first and private by default

Software that stores your data on your device, not in someone else's database. Reducing the surface area where users are the product.

05Philosophy

Why this lab exists.

Most software today is built to extract. Attention, data, time, money — pulled from the user and converted into someone else's metric. The result is an industry that ships more, faster, and with less care than at any point in its history.

Altitude Labs exists because we think this is a choice, not a constraint.

We build software the way it used to be built — deliberately, for people who will actually use it, with respect for their time and their data. Each product the lab ships is a long-term bet on a simple idea: that durable, useful, well-made software still has a place, and that the companies building it will outlast the ones optimizing for engagement.

We're a small studio working on a long timeline. The products we ship aren't designed to capture markets; they're designed to be worth using. If that's the kind of software you've been looking for, you're in the right place.
